An automatically generated invoice number is one character short when you create an invoice in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you create an invoice in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0, the invoice number that is automatically generated is one character shorter than you expect. For example, if the current invoice counter is 1234, the expected invoice number is PREFIX-01234-SUFFIX. However, the automatically generated invoice number is PREFIX-1234-SUFFIX.

The auto-numbering schema specifies a mask that contains the following three parts:
  • A prefix
  • A five-digit counter

    Note You must add zeros to the left of the five-digit counter if the counter is smaller than 10,000.
  • A suffix
