FIX: If you make some changes to the ASP.NET 2.0 Web site properties and you click the ASP.NET tab in IIS Manager, the W3SVC service may be restarted unexpectedly

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You host a Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 Web site in Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0.
  • In IIS Manager, you right-click the ASP.NET 2.0 Web site, and then you click Properties.
  • You make some changes to the ASP.NET 2.0 Web site properties.
  • You click the ASP.NET tab.
  • You click Apply to save the changes, and then you click OK.
In this scenario, the W3SVC service may be restarted unexpectedly.

Note This problem occurs even if you only click the ASP.NET tab and you make no changes to the properties on the ASP.NET tab.
