Availability of Update 2 for e-Gap 3.6.1 and Update 2 for IAG 2007

This article describes Update 2 for Whale Communications e-Gap 3.6.1 and Update 2 for Microsoft Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007.

These updates include all changes that were previously released in Update 1 for e-Gap 3.61 and in Update 1 for IAG 2007.

Fixes and improvements that are included in these updates

These updates include the following fixes and improvements:

Improved integration with SharePoint Server 2007

These updates improve integration with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 in order to provide better support and a better user experience. You can now publish SharePoint Products and Technologies through the e-Gap portal or through the IAG portal by using alternative access mapping (AAM). AAM enables mappings between the application's internal URLs and public URLs.

Improvements in e-Gap/IAG Server memory management

These updates include several fixes in the server modules. These updates make e-Gap/IAG more stable and improve memory management.

Improvements in CPU usage

These updates prevent high CPU usage in portals that publish many programs that are accessed by lots of users. The updates use faster algorithms to calculate the list of programs that a user can access.

Increased Username/Password field capacity when you use RADIUS repository

The character limit for the username field and for the password field is increased from 20 characters to 255 characters.

Fewer redirects to internal site

In trunks that do not implement authentication and that do not use Whale Client Components, the initial request is no longer redirected to the internal site. However, the initial request is sent directly to the back-end application.

Improved ISA server rules creation in IAG 3.7

These updates optimize the process that the IAG configuration uses to create Microsoft Internet Security Acceleration (ISA) rules. This simplifies the IAG rules creation process.

Improved detection script

These updates include the most current IAG detection script (version 1.73).

Known issues

• You can no longer use IP addresses to define a public host name for a trunk. Instead, you must use only host names. In the Trunk Configuration console, the trunk's Public Hostname/IP Address box is replaced by Public hostname box. Additionally, host names must contain at least two periods.
• In some cases, you must change the default body size that is defined in e-Gap. Otherwise, IAG requests smuggling protection definitions. For example, for some Web parts in a SharePoint site, the request size is larger than the default size in e-Gap or in IAG. In this case, you receive the following message in the Web Monitor:
  HTTP Request Smuggling (HRS) attempt detected.
• These updates do not include offline client components. If you want to use offline client components, you must install the IAG 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) offline client components. The client components are automatically upgraded when you first access a computer that runs the update.

The computer must be running IAG 2007 Service Pack 1.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this update package.

The English version of this update has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
