Error message when you install Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1: "Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly component"

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1), you receive the following error message:
Error 1935: An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E18E}. HRESULT: 0x800736CC.

CAUSE

This problem may occur if the following conditions are true:
  • You install Microsoft Dynamics NAV 5.0 SP1 on a computer that has one of the following operating systems installed:
    • Windows 7
    • Windows Vista
    • Windows Server 2008
  • Microsoft SQL Server is not installed.
  • You did not install SQL Server Express as part of the Microsoft Dynamics NAV installation options.
In this scenario, the computer does not have the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Redistributable Package (x86) installed.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) Redistributable Package (x86).

Note The (x86) version of this package must be installed even if you are installing Microsoft Dynamics NAV on an x64-based computer.
