SQL Server 2005 installers stop dependent services
INTRODUCTIONThis article describes how to determine services that depend on the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 service. MORE INFORMATION
SQL Server 2005 updates that are not completed successfully may leave services that depend on the SQL Server service in a stopped state after installation. Be aware of the services that depend on the SQL Server service before you install the update. Additionally, if the dependent services are not started after the update, start the dependent services manually, or restart the computer.
Note If you restart the computer, all dependent services that have a Startup Type of Automatic will be started in the correct order. To determine services that depend on the SQL Server service on a computer that is running SQL Server 2005, follow these steps: Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer.
