SYMPTOMS

When you try to install Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2), the installation is not successful. Additionally, any Commerce Server 2007 SP2 changes that may have been installed are backed out.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a problem with the MSI Installer program when certain Microsoft Commerce Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) hotfixes have been previously installed.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, remove all Commerce Server 2007 SP1 hotfixes before you install Commerce Server 2007 SP2.

To remove all Commerce Server 2007 SP1 hotfixes, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use the Add or Remove Programs item in Control Panel

To remove Commerce Server 2007 SP1 hotfixes, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Click to select the Show updates check box.
  4. In the Currently installed programs and updates list, click a hotfix for Commerce Server 2007 SP1, and then click Remove. Repeat this step until you have removed all Commerce Server 2007 hotfixes.

Method 2: Use the CS2007SP1QFERemover tool

The CS2007SP1QFERemover tool automatically removes any Commerce Server 2007 SP1 hotfixes. The tool establishes a clean environment. Therefore, you can successfully install Commerce Server 2007 SP2.
