SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

You have a computer that is running Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) or Windows Server 2008.
You have an XML Paper Specification (XPS) printer driver for an XPS printer installed on the computer.
You use the XPS printer to print a document that contains some large and complex graphics.

In this scenario, it takes much longer than expected to print the document. For example, it may take more than an hour to print an image from a graphics processing application. Additionally, the graphics processing application remains unresponsive for about 10 minutes. (In this situation, the mouse pointer is displayed as an hourglass.)

CAUSE

When the XPS printer driver converts graphics device interface (GDI) objects to XPS data, it may generate a very large XPS job. Therefore, it takes a long time for the printer to process this large job.

RESOLUTION

After you apply this hotfix, it will take less time to print a graphics-intensive document.
