SYMPTOMS

If you use a script to hide a SELECT control or to make the control visible in Windows Internet Explorer 7, the left mouse button no longer functions.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the SELECT control takes capture. However, the capture is hidden by the script before the SELECT control releases the capture. The message handler of the SELECT control does not process any messages if the capture is hidden. Therefore, the mouse becomes unresponsive.
