The changes in the TOC and PageRef fields do not appear when you compare Word 2007 documents

Problem description

You update some page values in a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document. When you compare the revised document to the original document, the changes in the TOC and PageRef fields do not appear.

Steps to solve this problem

To fix this problem, follow these steps:

This issue is fixed in the Word 2007 hotfix package that is dated June 20, 2008.

To enable the hotfix, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit, and then click OK.
2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
4. Type CompDiffSupressPageRefOnlyInHdr, and then press ENTER.
5. Right-click CompDiffSupressPageRefOnlyInHdr, and then click Modify.
6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
7. Exit Registry Editor.
