SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You use Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 client for Outlook, and you configure a Microsoft Dynamics CRM user to use a Microsoft Dynamics CRM forward mailbox as an incoming e-mail profile. However, Internet e-mail messages that contain dangerous or nonprintable characters in the Subject field are sent directly to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM forward mailbox. In this scenario, the e-mail router stops working. And, the e-mail router cannot process any further e-mail messages.

RESOLUTION

This problem is fixed in the latest cumulative update rollup for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, you must manually remove the e-mail messages that contain dangerous or nonprintable characters from the Microsoft Dynamics CRM forward mailbox.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
