This article describes the Microsoft System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2007 issues that are fixed in the Data Protection Manager 2007 hotfix package that is dated July 31, 2008.

When this issue occurs, you cannot reset the total data size to the size of the volume minus the size of the deselected folders.
Issue 3
This rollup package adds the ability to protect local file data on the Data Protection Manager server. For more information about this feature, see the "More Information" section.
Issue 4
When you configure the secondary protection for an item on a secondary Data Protection Manager server, you may receive the following error message even if the item is already successfully protected on the primary Data Protection Manager server:
This item is not protectable because some prerequisite software is missing. Ensure that all prerequisite software is installed and then protect this item. (ID: 31008)

Installation instructions
This Data Protection Manager hotfix rollup package consists of three separate updates. To install each update, follow these steps:
Install the hotfix rollup package on the server that is running Data Protection Manager 2007. To do this, run the DataProtectionManager2007-KB954641.exe file on the server.
Note You do not have to restart the server after you install the hotfix rollup package.
Update the remote Microsoft SQL Server installation that is hosting the DPMDB database. To do this, run the SqlPrep-KB954641.msp file on the computer that is running SQL Server.
Note This step is not required if you are running a SQL DPMDB instance on the Data Protection Manager 2007 server.
Update the protection agents in the DPM Administrator Console. Use one of the following methods to update the protection agents on the protected computers:
Method 1: Update the protection agents from the DPM Administrator Console
Open the DPM Administrator Console.
Click the Management tab, and then click the Agents tab.
Select a computer from the Protected Computer list, and then click Update on the Action pane.
Click Yes, and then click Update Agents.
When you receive the Enter Credentials and Reboot option dialog box, enter your credentials, select the Manually restart the selected servers later option, and then click OK.
Note You do not have to restart the computer to update the agent. This is why the Manually restart the selected servers later option was selected.
Method 2: Update the protection agents on the protected computers
Obtain the update protection agent package from the "Data Protection Manager installation location \DPM\Agents\RA\2.0.8111.0" directory on the Data Protection Manager 2007 server.
x86 update i386\ Language ID \DPMProtectionAgent2007_KB954641.msp
x64 update amd64\ Language ID \DPMProtectionAgent2007_KB954641.msp
Run the appropriate DPMProtectionAgent2007_KB954641.msp package on each protected computer.
Open the DPM Administrator Console on the Data Protection Manager 2007 server.
Click the Management tab, and then click the Agents tab.
Select the protected computers, and then verify that the agent version is listed as 2.0.8111.0.
Update the DPM Management Shell. To do this, run the DPMManagementShell2007-KB954641.msp file on all computers on which the DPM Management Shell is installed.
Local data protection on the Data Protection Manager server
In branch office environments, administrators may also use the Data Protection Manager server as a file server. The local data protection feature enables the administrator to back up file data that is stored on the Data Protection Manager server.
We strongly recommend that you also back up the data to another Data Protection Manager server that is located in a different data center. Or, back up the data to tapes that can be sent offsite to guarantee recoverability in a disaster scenario.
The local data protection feature is only for file data sources and the DPM database (DPMDB). Other data sources, such as Microsoft Exchange Server or SQL Server, will not appear in the DPM Administrator Console. File data backups can be saved to disk or to tape. However, the DPMDB backups must be saved to tape.
To use the DPM Administrator Console to back up file data sources, you must set the AllowLocalDataProtection global setting property to true. To do this, run the following command in the DPM Management Shell:
