SYMPTOMS

After you add a custom attribute to a Product entity, Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 does not perform a uniqueness check on the product number. Therefore, if you add a product that has an identifier (ID) that already exists to Microsoft Dynamics CRM, you do not receive the following error message as expected:
The product ID conflicts with an existing product ID. Try your request again with a new ID.

RESOLUTION
