SYMPTOMS

Microsoft Office Communicator Mobile 2007 uses the NTLM authentication for Medium security mode. For High security mode, Communicator Mobile 2007 tries to use the Kerberos version 5 protocol authentication. However, the Kerberos protocol authentication is not supported on Windows Mobile, versions 5.0 and 6.0. Therefore, the logon fails.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, install the Communicator Mobile 2007 update package that is dated November 2008.

Note After you apply this update package, Communicator Mobile 2007 will always use the NTLM authentication, even in High security mode.
