INTRODUCTION

The SiteOrphan rule in Pre-Upgrade Checker for Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 2 lists the names of site collections that are not in the site map.

MORE INFORMATION

When you run Pre-Upgrade Checker, this rule lists the names of site collections that are not in the site map. Therefore, the upgrade code cannot access the site collections. The following is a list of reasons why the site collections cannot be accessed:
  • Sites that are not in the site map because of synchronization issues.
  • Sites that are not in the site map because of duplicate URLs.
  • Sites that are not in the site map because of duplicate host headers.
The rule recommends that you detach and then reattach the content database, or delete certain site collections, to fix the orphaned site collections.
