INTRODUCTION

This article describes Microsoft Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) support for Pocket PC and for Windows mobile devices.

MORE INFORMATION

IAG versions that are earlier than 3.6

In IAG versions that are earlier than 3.6, IAG does not support Pocket PC or Windows mobile devices. This is because of the version of Pocket Internet Explorer that is used on the devices. Pocket Internet Explorer is an Internet Explorer 4.01-based Web browser. Internet Explorer 4.01 does not fully support HTML standards. Therefore, some pages that IAG uses are not displayed appropriately.

IAG 3.6 and later versions

Beginning in IAG version 3.6, support for Pocket PC and for Windows mobile devices was added. The Pocket Internet Explorer limitations still exist. However, the IAG pages have been modified to work within these limitations. IAG does not do any dynamic optimization of Web applications to resolve the Pocket Internet Explorer limitations. Therefore, some Web applications may not be displayed as expected. A logon page that is specific to the mobile device 240x320 resolution was added.

Note ActiveX and Java components are not supported on any version of the mobile devices. A mobile device cannot access a trunk that has set the access policy to require IAG Client Components or endpoint detection.
