SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You configure a System Center Configuration Manager 2007 site to use a customized port for HTTP or HTTPS communication. For example, you use a 10443 port for HTTPS.
  • Two or more management points are configured in this site.
  • You perform a "Client Push Installation" operation.
In this scenario, the operation fails. System Center Configuration Manager 2007 clients have to be installed manually.

Additionally, the following error message is logged in the Ccmsetup.log file:
<![LOG[Failed to find a valid online MP.]LOG]!><time="time" date="date" component="ccmsetup" context="" type="number" thread="id" file="ccmsetup.cpp:9489">

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of the Ccmsetup.exe module. When multiple management points are used, the Ccmsetup.exe module selects the best management point to connect to. However, the best management point selection method does not support customized ports. Therefore, this method cannot find any management point when the customized port is used.
