You receive an error message when you click and then update the Drivers node in the Configuration Manager console of a Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 site that uses SQL Server 2008 for the site database

Consider the following scenario:

• You are running Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1).
• You use Microsoft SQL Server 2008 for your site database implementation.
• In the Configuration Manager console, you click and then update the following node:
  Site Database\Computer Management\Operating System Deployment\Drivers

In this scenario, the Configuration Manager console exits unexpectedly (crashes), and you receive the following error message:Additionally, the Smsprov.log file contains information that resembles the following:

To resolve this problem, apply this hotfix on the following servers:

• Primary site servers that are using SQL Server 2008 to host the database
• Servers that have the Configuration Manager console installed and that connect to a site that uses SQL Server 2008 to host the database
• Servers that host a remote Systems Management Server (SMS) provider

Important This hotfix contains a new version of the AdminConsole.xml file. If you have modified this file for your environment, you must reapply these modifications to the new version after you install this hotfix. When you install this hotfix, the installation process backs up the old AdminConsole.xml file to the following directory:

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 installed on the computer.

Note Remote administrative consoles that have not been updated with this hotfix or that were open when this update was applied cannot view items under the advertisement node. To resolve this issue, close the remote administrative console, apply this hotfix, and then reopen the updated console.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix.

This hotfix has been replaced by the hotfix 969529, you can install the hotfix 969529 to resolve this problem.

The English version of this hotfix has the file attributes (or later file attributes) that are listed in the following table. The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time. To find the difference between UTC and local time, use the Time Zone tab in the Date and Time item in Control Panel.
