SUMMARY

An update is available for Microsoft Silverlight 1.0. This new build is an upgrade to previous builds of Silverlight 1.0. This update is included in current Silverlight installers. If your computer does not have Silverlight installed, the installer may be offered to you by Microsoft Update or by Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

This update improves the performance of the Silverlight auto-update mechanism. This affects the following areas:

The startup performance of the Silverlight application
The network bandwidth usage during auto-update events

The Silverlight installer includes all previous updates together with the current update. To install the latest version of Silverlight, visit the following Microsoft Web site:

Microsoft Update

Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 is also available to users of Microsoft Update. If you have an earlier version of Silverlight 1.0 installed, you will be offered this update as “Update for Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 (KB 955305)." If you do not have Silverlight 1.0 installed, you may be offered the latest Silverlight 1.0 installer, “Microsoft Silverlight 1.0 (KB 955305)."

Silverlight 1.0 contains an auto-updating mechanism. By default, this mechanism is disabled in the WSUS package. Future updates will be provided through WSUS updates.
