SYMPTOMS

You are using Microsoft Office Outlook 2007, and you are connected to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007. You receive the following error message when you try to change one instance in a recurring meeting:
Changes to the meeting cannot be saved. The meeting has been updated by another person. Close and reopen the meeting, and then make your updates

CAUSE

This problem can occur if you delete one instance in the meeting series, and then you later try to update another later instance in the same meeting series. For example, the following steps can cause this error:
  1. Create a recurring series with one attendee. Give it a subject, location and body.
  2. Wait until you receive an "Accept" response from the attendee.
  3. Open one of the occurrences in the series, cancel it, and then send the cancellation.
  4. Open an occurrence in the series that is later than the one that you cancelled in step 3.
  5. Change the time of this occurrence, modify the text in the body of the meeting, and then click Send Update.
