On This PageSYMPTOMSIn Windows Server 2008 and in Windows Vista, the LCMapString function may return incorrect mapping
results
for some languages. Because of this issue, Exchange Server 2007 may enter an infinite loop when certain users connect to their mailboxes. Eventually, this behavior may consume all disk space, and the mail server may stop responding. CAUSEThe LCMapString function is used to pass a locale, an input string,
and a string length. If the string length parameter is specified, the input
string cannot
be null-terminated. If the locale uses double compression, the system checks the next character to verify this double compression during the conversion. However, the system does not check whether the double-compressed locale exceeds the specified string length. If the locale string is null-terminated, no problem occurs. However, if the locale string ends on a page boundary, the system may crash. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft.
