You can unexpectedly create a service appointment even if you do not have the privileges of the Service entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0

SYMPTOMS

You do not have the privileges of the Service entity in Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. However, you can create a service appointment from the Advanced Find page even though you cannot specify the value in the Service field of the service appointment.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because Microsoft Dynamics CRM checks the prvCreateActivity privilege and the prvReadActivity privilege when a user performs an Advanced Find query. If the user has these privileges of the Activity entity, the user can create an activity by clicking New. Therefore, the user can create a service appointment. However, if the user does not have the privileges of the Service entity, the user cannot specify the value in the Service field of the service appointment. Therefore, the created service appointment is incorrect.
