SYMPTOMSAfter you use Windows Cluster Administrator tool to change the network name of a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services failover cluster instance, you cannot use the SQL Server Setup program to modify the SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services failover cluster instance that has the changed network name. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the name for the cluster instance is not changed in the registry when you perform the change in a tool that is not a part of SQL Server. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
