SYMPTOMS

You create a publication of the Transactional publication with updatable subscriptions publication type. In the publication, you specify DB1 as the publication database, and you specify a table in DB1 as the article. You also create a subscription that uses the "immediate updating" method to the publication. Then, you alter the table schema in DB1 to drop some columns from the published database.

When you update this published table at the subscriber, you may receive the following error message:

Msg 20515, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSreplraiserror, Line 9
Updateable Subscriptions: Rows do not match between Publisher and Subscriber. Run the Distribution Agent to refresh rows at the Subscriber.
Msg 20512, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_MSreplraiserror, Line 8
Updateable Subscriptions: Rolling back transaction.
Msg 3609, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
The transaction ended in the trigger. The batch has been aborted

This problem also occurs if the following conditions are true:

The columns were dropped from the table in DB1.
The backup of this database is used to initialize the subscriber.
