SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You apply Cumulative Update 7 for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services or you have the release version of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services. Then, you explicitly define a slice at a partition. When you process the partition by using a query that returns no records, the process may fail. Additionally, you may receive the following error message:
Detected inconsistency between User define slice and detected slice of partition. The slice specified for the %{Property/} attribute is incorrect.
This issue occurs in Cumulative Update 7 (build 9.00.3239) for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services or the release version of SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services. It does not occur in Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services or in earlier versions.
