SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You try to generate a Report Builder model in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.
  • You try to generate the Report Builder model from a data source in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 or in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0.
In this scenario, you receive the following error message:
Server was unable to process request. ---> The operation has timed out

CAUSE

This issue occurs if the data source points to a large amount of data.

MORE INFORMATION

You can safely ignore the error message. Even though you receive the error message, the report server continues to process the Report Builder model. After some time, the newly generated Report Builder model appears in the SharePoint Server 2007 document library or in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 document library.
