August 2008 cumulative daylight saving time (DST) update for Exchange Server 2003 SP2

A cumulative update for daylight saving time (DST) changes in several countries is now available for computers that are running Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Update information

The update that is described in this article changes the time zone data to account for a time zone change in Argentina, Pacific SA, Morocco, and Pakistan. The update also addresses daylight saving time (DST) changes in several other countries. We recommend that you install the latest DST updates for your operating system.

Time zones that are updated

Argentina Standard Time
Adds a new time zone for the Argentina time zone that introduces DST start dates and end dates for changes after the prior cumulative time zone update was created in December 2007.

Pacific SA Standard Time
Adjusts DST end dates for the Santiago time zone for changes after the prior cumulative time zone update was created in December 2007.

Morocco Standard Time
Adds a new time zone for the Morocco time zone that introduces DST start dates and end dates for changes after the prior cumulative time zone update was created in December 2007.

Pakistan Standard Time
Adds a new time zone for the Islamabad and Karachi time zone that introduces DST start dates and end dates for changes after the prior cumulative time zone update was created in December 2007.

Hotfix information

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next Exchange Server 2003 service pack that contains this hotfix.

Restart requirement

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this hotfix. However, the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service and all dependent services are restarted.

The dates and times for these files are listed in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC). When you view the file information, it is converted to local time.
