ACC: Edit Find Dialog Box Is Modal in Form View

SYMPTOMS

When you have the pointer in the Edit Find dialog box in Microsoft Access, you cannot switch focus back to the form. You must close the Edit Find dialog box before you can continue working with the form.

CAUSE

The Edit Find dialog box is modal. When you open a modal form, you cannot access any other Microsoft Access objects until you close or hide the form.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

Steps to Reproduce Behavior


  1. Start Microsoft Access and open any database.
  2. Open a form with an editable field (for example, a text box) in Form view.
  3. On the Edit menu, click Find. Note that now you are unable to shift focus back to the form. You must click Close in the Edit Find dialog box.
