SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 environment, you grant a user the "Full Access" permission and the "Send As" permission on a shared mailbox or Exchange Management Shell. Then, the user logs on to Outlook and performs a "Send As" operation. If the logging level is set to Medium or Higher, the following event is logged in the Application log on the mailbox server:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSExchangeIS Mailbox Store
Event Category: Send As
Event ID: 1032
Description:
/o=<Organization name>/ou=<Administrative Group name>/cn=Recipients/cn=userA sent a message as /o=<Organization name>/ou=<Administrative Group name>/cn=Recipients/cn=share.

However, if the user performs the same operation by using Outlook Web Access (OWA), no event is logged for the "Send As" operation.

This problem occurs when users send e-mail from a shared mailbox using Outlook Web Access (OWA).

Notes
  1. To perform a "Send As"operation in Office Outlook Web Access (OWA), log on as a user who has the appropriate permissions, and then click the name in the right top of the screen to open the Open Other Mailbox dialog box. Then, select the shared mailbox.
  2. To set the logging level of "MSExchangeIS\9000 Private\Send As" to Medium or Higher, you must use the Set-EventLogLevel cmdlet in Exchange Management Shell.
