SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Vista-based computer, you open and then close a 2007 Office file that is saved on a SharePoint site. When you try to reopen the Office file, you receive an error message that states that the file is locked or open in another program.

For example, when you try to reopen an InfoPath 2007 form from the SharePoint site, you receive the following error message:
The form cannot be filled out because you do not have adequate permissions, another user has the form open, or the form is open in another program.
Do you want to open a read-only copy of the form?

RESOLUTION

This problem is fixed in the 2007 Office system hotfix package that was released on August 26, 2008.

For more information about the hotfix package, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
956506  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956506/ ) Description of the 2007 Office system hotfix package (Mso.msp): August 26, 2008
Note If Microsoft Internet Information Service (IIS) responds slowly on the server of the SharePoint site when you open or close a 2007 Office file on the SharePoint site, you may see a misleading dialog box which contains the information that is similar with the following:
Opening: 'http://testserver/sometest/document.xlsl'
This issue is a side effect of the hotfix package.
