SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:

You create a volume on a computer that is running Windows Server 2008 or Windows Vista . This volume does not have a drive letter or a mount point. The unique access method is the volume's GUID.
You try to download one or more files from a Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) server to this volume. Or, you try to upload one or more files from this volume to a BITS server.

In this scenario, the BITS client cannot download or upload the files.

This problem occurs because the BITS client cannot handle a path that contains the volume GUID.
