Description of the update package for Office Communications Server 2007 Audio Video Conferencing Server: October, 2008

List of issues fixed

This update fixes the following issues:

• 957489  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957489/ ) The packet interval of 60ms for audio RTP packets from the Audio Video Conferencing Server may cause latency and performance issues over bandwidth connections
• 957595  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957595/ ) Conference calls are disconnected when you customize the codec selection policy for the Communications Server 2007 Audio Video Conferencing Server or for the Office Communicator 2007 client
• 957648  (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957648/ ) Audio quality decreases during a conference call that is hosted on a Communications Server 2007 Audio/Video Conferencing Server when Communications Server 2007 clients report packet loss

In some cases, after you install this update, you my receive the following error message on the computer that is running Communications Server 2007 and that has the Audio Video Conferencing Server role installed: If you receive this error message after you install the update, create the AvMcuSvc.exe.config file. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start Notepad.
2. Paste (or type) the following text in Notepad:
   <configuration>
   <runtime>
   <generatePublisherEvidence enabled="false"/>
   </runtime>
   </configuration>
3. On the File menu, click Save, and then name the file AvMcuSvc.exe.config.
4. Save the file in the same location as the Avmcusvc.exe. By default, this location is as follows:
   %Program Files%\Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007\AV Conferencing

Start Services.msc, and then start the Office Communications Server Audio/Video Conferencing service. By using the AvMcuSvc.exe.config configuration file, the Authenticode signature verification process is bypassed for Avmcusvc.exe and all dependent binaries. Also, the Audio Video Conferencing Services starts in time.

Note This workaround works only with the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later versions. Additionally, use this workaround only if you receive the following error after you apply the update for AVMCU server:
