FIX: Error message when you publish a large test result that is generated by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Test to Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2005

When you publish a large test result that is generated by using Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 Team System Test to a Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2005 server, you may receive an error message that resembles the following: Note The size of test result is approximately 18 MB or larger. For example, the file size that is mentioned in the error message is "18,37 MB."

To publish test results that are generated by using Visual Studio 2008 Team System Test 2008 to a Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2005 server, the test results must be converted to a version for Visual Studio Team Foundation Server 2005. The conversion occurs in the memory. If test file is too big, an out-of-memory error is triggered.

A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.
