SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You enable remote control on a Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) site.
  • You install the System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 client on a Windows Vista-based computer that has User Account Control (UAC) enabled.
  • You take remote control of the Windows Vista-based client computer.
  • You try to take an action that requires permission from the UAC dialog box.
In this scenario, the action fails. Additionally, an entry is added to the Remotecontrol.log file. The entry resembles the following:
spGPConfig->ConfigureUACSDPolicy(BString(m_sCookie).detach()), HRESULT=80004002  RemoteControl <date & time> 4072 (0x0FE8)
Failed to configure UAC policy (0x80004002) RemoteControl <date & time> 4072 (0x0FE8)

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the remote desktop cannot switch to the secure shell.

RESOLUTION
