Article ID: 957089 - Last Review: October 20, 2008 - Revision: 1.0 FIX: Local activation occurs on the client computer when you install a COM+ application proxy that was exported from a partition other than the Base Application PartitionOn This PageSYMPTOMSLocal activation occurs on the client computer when you install a Microsoft COM+ application proxy that was exported from a partition other than the Base Application Partition. When a COM+ application proxy is exported, an .msi file is created that contains the information that is needed to use the COM+ application instance on the server and to install the COM+ application proxy locally. When a COM+ application proxy is exported from a partition other than the Base Application Partition, the COM+ application is always activated locally instead of by using the proxy. You expect the activation to occur remotely. CAUSEThis problem occurs because the partition activator incorrectly marks the acceptable class context as CLSCTX_LOCAL_SERVER for a partitioned COM+ application proxy. Therefore, the activation occurs locally. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft.
