SYMPTOMS

On a Windows Server 2003-based computer, a handle leak occurs in the Csrss.exe process after the desktop heap is exhausted. Eventually, the system may become unresponsive.

After the desktop heap becomes exhausted, the creation of a console window may fail. If this issue occurs, the value of the HWND attribute is set to NULL. Then, the system does not free the following handles when the console is removed:

hWinsta
hDesk
hIcono
hSmIcon
