SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • On the MIF collection tab of the Site Settings\Client Agnets\Hardware Inventory Client Agent item, the Collect NOIDMIF files option is selected.
  • On some System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1) clients, one or more properties contain more than 256 characters in the NOIDMIF files.
In this scenario, the Inventory Data Loader component cannot process hardware inventory data from these System Center Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 clients.

After the issue occurs, the following information is logged the InventoryAgent.log file:
An array property for MIFAttributesVerbatim will be truncated to a maximum of 254 characters.
Additionally, the following information is logged in the Dataldr.log file:
~Compilation failed~syntax error on line <line number>, token '~~'~~

To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007, available from this Microsoft web site: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=3318741a-c038-4ab1-852a-e9c13f8a8140
