How to install "apps" on your Zune player

This article describes how to install "apps" on your Zune player. Apps include games and utilities that are available from the Zune Marketplace.

To view the apps that are currently offered on the Zune Marketplace, visit the following Web site and install the Zune software:After the installation, open the Zune software on your computer. Click MARKETPLACE, and then click apps.

Apps for Zune HD Players can be downloaded to your computer or directly to a Zune HD player through a Wi-Fi connection:

• Download to a computer
  1. Start the Zune software.
  2. Click MARKETPLACE, and then click apps.
  3. Click to select a game or a utility that interests you.
  4. Click the download link.
  5. Connect your Zune HD player to the computer, and then sync the app to it.
     
     Note You may have to adjust your Sync Options in the Zune software. To access this setting, click SETTINGS, click device, and then click SYNC OPTIONS.
• Download to a Zune HD player
  1. From the home screen, press marketplace.
  2. Press apps, and then select a game or a utility that interests you.
  3. Press the Add to cart icon, and then press YES to view your cart.
  4. Press the Download icon.

Apps for non-touchscreen Zune players

You can only install apps on your Zune player as part of a player update:

1. Connect your Zune device to your computer, and then start the Zune software.
2. Click Settings, click Device, and then click Player Update.
3. Click Install Games.

How to uninstall an app

To remove an app from a Zune HD player, follow these steps:

1. On the home screen of the Zune player, press apps.
2. Press and hold the app that you want to remove, and then press DELETE.
3. Press YES to delete the app.

To remove an app from a non-touchscreen Zune player, follow these steps:

1. On the home screen of the Zune player, select Games, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
2. Select the game that you want to remove, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
3. Select Uninstall, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
4. Select Yes, and then press the center of the Zune pad.
