When you right-click a shared network folder or a shared network file on a Windows Vista-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer, and then you
click Always Available Offline to pin
the network resource, you cannot access the shared file or folder. This problem occurs if only part of the network resource is cached. Additionally, you
receive an error message that resembles the following:
Access is denied.
If
you synchronize the
file or the folder, the synchronization
operation is
successful. However, you still cannot
access the file or the folder.
A
supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended

Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 file information notes
You can identify the files that apply to a specific product or milestone (such as an RTM version or a service pack number) by examining the file version numbers, as shown in the
following table:

Service Pack 1 is integrated into Windows Server 2008.
Therefore, RTM milestone files apply only to Windows Vista. RTM milestone files

The MANIFEST (.manifest) files and the MUM (.mum) files that are installed
for each environment are listed
separately in the "Additional file information for Windows Server 2008 and for Windows Vista" section. MUM files and MANIFEST files, together with the associated security
catalog (.cat) files, are critical to maintaining the state of the updated
component. The security catalog files, whose attributes are not listed, are signed with a
Microsoft digital signature.
