SYMPTOMS

When you use Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 IDE to open a remote Web project, the XML editor may begin walking the remote Web site file structure and looking for XML schema files. This process may take several minutes over a slower link. When this happens, Visual Studio 2008 IDE will appear unresponsive.

Note The XML editor is used when you edit the Web.config.
