SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You have a computer that runs Windows Vista and has Windows Media Center TV Pack installed.
  • You have a wide-screen display that uses a screen resolution that is wider than 1366x768.
In this scenario, certain user interfaces are displayed incorrectly. Specifically, the whole user interface is offset to the left. Additionally, a nonfunctional column of user interface elements from the previous menu is flickering on the right side of the screen.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because of a limitation in Windows Media Center for screen resolutions that are wider than 1366x768. When you switch to a new user interface, the right side of the user interface cannot be redrawn as expected.

RESOLUTION

Prerequisites

To apply this hotfix, you must have the following prerequisites installed on the computer:
  • Windows Media Center TV Pack
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Restart requirement

To avoid restarting the computer, make sure that Windows Media Center is not running while you are applying the hotfix.
