SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • On a Windows Server 2003-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer, you enable the Server for NFS component.
  • A Network File System (NFS) client copies some data to this server.
In this scenario, the computer may restart unexpectedly. Additionally, you may receive an error message that resembles the following error message:
Stop 0x000000C2 (parameter1, Parameter2, Parameter3, Parameter4 )BAD_POOL_CALLER

Note The parameters in this error message may vary, depending on your actual configuration.

CAUSE

The NFS server maintains a negative cache for user and group maps. During a race condition, the NFS server uses a shared lock to change a link structure of the negative cache. This behavior causes list corruption and triggers the issue.
