Article ID: 958384 - Last Review: October 10, 2008 - Revision: 1.0 Information about the command-line option for installing Forefront Security for Exchange to an undiscovered driveINTRODUCTIONThis article describes information about the command-line
option for installing Microsoft Forefront Security for Exchange to an undiscovered
drive. MORE INFORMATIONThe command-line option for installing Forefront Security
for Exchange to an undiscovered drive letter should not be used to override shared
drive dependencies for clusters. The shared drive that you try to install to must be
located in the cluster group that is being protected. All dependencies are
contained within the cluster group. The command-line option is intended for
customers who have third-party volume managers and disk array firmware that do
not publish mount point information to the Cluster service for client
discovery. In this case, Forefront Security for Exchange is the client
application that provides protection, and it has to discover that information. If
you can verify that Forefront Security for Exchange did not discover the
correct shared volume during installation, the command-line option is the best
workaround for a correct installation.
