SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario. You add notes to a record. When you try to save the record, a duplicate record is detected. Then, you click Save to save the record. Or, you click Cancel to return to the form to edit the record. In this scenario, the notes are lost.

If you add notes after the record is saved, you do not experience this problem.

To enable this hotfix, add the following registry entry as a DWORD value to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server and to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client for Microsoft Office Outlook:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\MSCRM\DisableNotesForDuplicateDetectedEntityCreate
A value of 1 indicates that the registry entry is turned on.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
