SYMPTOMS

On a server that is running Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1), the Edge Transport service crashes repeatedly. Additionally, the following event error is logged repeatedly in the Application event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Description:
Faulting application edgetransport.exe, version <version>, stamp <xxxxxxxx>, faulting module kernel32.dll, version <version>, stamp <xxxxxxxx>, debug? 0, fault address <address>.

RESOLUTION
