SYMPTOMS

When you install Cumulative Update 10, Cumulative Update 9, or security update 954606 (security bulletin MS08-052) for Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 (SP2) on a drive that uses the FAT32 file system, you receive the following error message:

Unexpected Error Occurred

Additionally, the Hotfix.dmp file is generated in the following folder:

drive:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup Bootstrap\LOG\Hotfix

Note This problem does not occur if the drive uses the NTFS file system.
