FIX: On a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 Network Projector, the screen synchronization performance does not change even if you tune the RDP receive buffer size and the threshold size

On a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 R2 Network Projector, you tune the remote desktop protocol (RDP) receive buffer size and the threshold size by adjusting the values of the following registry subkeys:

• NPPerfTune
• NPRecvBufferSize
• NPRecvThreshold

However, the screen synchronization performance does not change at all.

This problem occurs because the receive buffer is allocated before the values of the performance tuning registry subkeys are read. Therefore, the values that you specify are not reflected in the actual memory allocation for the RDP receive buffer.

A supported software update is now available from Microsoft as Windows CE 6.0 Platform Builder Monthly Update (December 2008). You can confirm this by scrolling to the "File information" section of this article. The package file name contains the product version, date, Knowledge Base article number, and processor type. This update is supported only if all previously issued updates for this product are also installed.

Restart requirement

After you apply this update, you must perform a clean build of the whole platform. To do this, use one of the following methods:

• On the Build menu, click Clean, and then click Build Platform.
• On the Build menu, click Rebuild Platform.

You do not have to restart the computer after you apply this update.
