Stop error when you execute some common Plug and Play functions on a Windows Vista-based or a Windows Server 2008-based computer: "Stop error code 0x000000D1 (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)" or "Stop error code 0x000000FE (BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER)"

On a Windows Vista-based or a Windows Server 2008-based computer, you use the Driver Verifier Manager (verifier.exe) tool to verify the USBSer.sys driver. When you execute some common Plug and Play (PnP) functions, such as the following functions, the operating system crashes:

• The remove function
• The surprise remove function
• The rebalance function

Additionally, you receive one of the following Stop error messages:
