Some problems may occur if you remove a PCMCIA MicroDrive compact flash card from a Windows Vista-based or Windows Server 2008-based computer while the computer is asleep
You have a computer that runs Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008.
You insert a Personal Computer Memory Card International Association (PCMCIA) MicroDrive compact flash (CF) card into a PCMCIA slot on the computer.
You put the computer to sleep, and then you remove the PCMCIA MicroDrive CF card while the computer is asleep. Later, you resume the computer.
In this scenario, the MicroDrive drive may still appear in Windows Explorer and in Device Manager. If you try to access the MicroDrive drive, the system stops responding. If you restart the computer while the computer is unresponsive, you receive the following Stop error message, and then the system restarts:
Important Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 hotfixes are included in the same packages. However, only one of these products may be listed on the “Hotfix Request” page. To request the hotfix package that applies to both Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008, just select the product that is listed on the page.
A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
