SYMPTOMS

In a Microsoft Office Word 2007 document, when you insert an IncludeText field into an IF statement that only contains a true condition, the IncludeText field is removed after you perform a mail merge.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, install the Word 2007 hotfix package that is dated December 16, 2008. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
959645 Description of the Word 2007 hotfix package (Word.msp, Wordconv.msp): December 16, 2008
Note The 959645 hotfix package does not fix the problem that occurs when the first double quotation mark (") character and the first field brace ({) character of the IncludeText field are on the same line and are not separated by at least one empty area.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
