Description of the changes in the System Center Online Client component in Asset Inventory Service 1.5

This article describes the software update for System Center Online Client. System Center Online Client is the client component of Microsoft Asset Inventory Service (AIS) 1.5.

This software update contains the following two changes to the System Center Online Client component:

• Additional inventory data is collected
  
  The license reconciliation feature of AIS 1.5 requires license codes to be collected for your installed programs. Because this feature is a new feature in AIS 1.5, the client has been updated to collect this data.
• Scheduling is improved
  
  The AIS 1.5 client is run when the Task Scheduler triggers an associated task. The algorithm that dictates the way that the task is scheduled has been changed in this update. The changes make sure that the client is run at a regular interval so that inventory is collected on computers that are frequently turned off. If a task is set to start when the computer is turned off or sleeping, the task starts within an hour after the computer is turned on. In earlier versions of AIS, this task does not run. Instead, the inventory is collected at the next scheduled time if the computer is turned on.
